Playing Catch-Up!
October 6, 2021
I am pretty beat from The Great Wine Adventure! We make it down to breakfast in stages and I finally try the oatmeal filled with lots of fruit and an omelet with everything! Now that's a breakfast! When I left my favorite lady gave me a big wave goood-bye!
Back upstairs and I work on yesterday's blog in fits and starts. Ammar is working and it's just a companionable, quiet morning. Eventually, though, we really need to get out of doors. One of the friendly reception ladies suggests a mall that is more our speed than the Galleria was and it's only a four lari cab ride!
There are lots and lots of stores and much of the mall is more like a shopping center at home, so we aren't cooped up! In and out of lots of clothing stores where the prices are quite low but most things are made in China. There is also a home-goods type store where I find an usual small glass bowl and a stationery store where Ammar finds gifts for his nieces. We also buy some munchies for the trip. (I'm wondering if my gluten sensitivity has returned! I think I'll be careful for a while!)
Aren't these cool! Not a lot of arch support but they're about thirty dollars!
Breakfast was a long time ago and the choices here are all fast foods. We opt for "Kentucky Fried Camel"! It's always an adventure when you order in a foreign country but we wind up with chicken strips and fries and I have a cherry lemonade! There is nothing on the menu that is grilled and there isn't a sign of a salad or vegetable. Hey, we're on vacation!
They really take "Let sleeping dogs lie" seriously!
May said that the government takes care of them in a kind of TNR program, and
everyone feeds them, like the cats is Egypt, Turkey, Cyprus, Saudi...
Having exhausted the possibilities, we find a cab and go home. We need to pack because we will be leaving at seven tomorrow morning to catch the eight-o'clock train to Batumi. Then I need to go back to the wine blog and add about a million photos! And catch up on email and messages. And, of course, there's the whole - "you can order your train tickets on line" theory! The first attempt times out and now I know that I've got to really hustle. When I go in for the second shot, the seats I had selected no long show up and, in fact, there are only three seats let! And there is nothing on the top floor. I'm just grateful that we got seats at all! Our tickets come as a QR code and we've already established that my QR reader is faulty, so I delete the app and get a new one. This one works but Ammar's works better and he gets it on his phone as a back-up.
It will be an early morning, so I need this to be an early night! I don't know how Ammar gets by on the amount of sleep he gets!!
Wow! Kentucky Fried CAMEL????
ReplyDeleteGiggle!!! But I'm sure it would taste just like chicken! Doesn't everything?!
